President Donald J. Whiteman

You cannot support President Donald J. Whiteman’s pro-child-abuse policy of tearing children (from babies to teens) away from their mothers and families and be American, at the same time.

Whiteman is a racist. Whiteman is a misogynist. Whiteman’s bigotry applies to pretty much everyone, save for those who are wealthy, white, and male. If the male is a dictator, Whiteman likes him no matter his skin color.

Whiteman represents, through actions and words, the side my father and uncle fought against in World War II; they were in the United States Army and fought against the Nazis.

We are in the same fight now. We are in the beginnings of it. Silence, is not an option,  if you love this country.

Promoting violence against children

You can’t support violence against children and be a Christian at the same time.  You can’t support violence against children and be emotionally well at the same time. State Representative Gail Finney, a Democrat from Kansas, disagrees. She recently proposed a bill allowing parents, teachers and  caregivers  to spank children so hard they can leave bruises. A visit to her website reveals someone who very clearly believes she is a Christian and no doubt believes she is the very picture of emotional health.

Sick and distorted is the mind that supports violence against children and believes themselves just in doing so.

There is something sickeningly insidious about Finney’s bill. Consider this; given that spankings in schools are currently legal in Kansas (and 18 other states! ) what on earth would compel anyone to propose a bill that legalizes bruising a child’s buttocks? Does Finney truly believe they are not being hit hard enough? It would seem so.

John Bradshaw, a widely-respect philosopher, theologian, counselor, and teacher has repeatedly warned about the pulverizing damage caused by violence against children.  His Healing the Shame presentation is particularly enlightening,  powerful, and poignant. More than once I’ve heard him remind adults that when a child is being hit, they are being hit by someone who is, at minimum, twice their size. Imagine someone twice your size hitting you for a moment. Now, imagine a child, who does not have an extensive enough life history to know they are being abused. As a result, the child believes this is the way it’s supposed to be. This is what he or she deserves. And therein lies the savage psychic damage many never recover from.

While I wish Finney no harm, I do wish her emotional health. In the meantime, she should resign from office. It would be the Christian thing to do.

The Pedophile Pope

In an American prison they’d call the Pope Short Eyes, meaning child molester, pedophile. They’d be right. In very real legal terms, Pope Benedict aided and abetting the molesting of hundreds of children. He knew what was going on, and covered it up. My guess is he still is.

Recently, Dermot Ryan, a man that strikes me as a remarkable and courageous human being, commented on the March 24 piece in this blog, “Jail the Non-Christian Criminal Pope.”  I would urge you to read it. Contained in his comment is a request for an international arrest warrant for the pope. Anyone who finds the notion of arresting the pope silly or pointless needs to ask themselves this. If someone you knew helped protect someone who sexually molested your child, would you give a damn about their job title or level of fame? I doubt it.

What’s also horrifying about all this is the silence of world leaders.  The Pope and a number of others in the Catholic Church have for years covered up child abuse.  What kind of mind must one have to knowingly make a decision that you know – know!! – will result in more children being abused? And then you go out into the world saying you are the Vicar of Christ on earth? And your cohorts cover for you?

The leadership of the Catholic Church is engaged in organized crime; that’s what the wide spread cover up and support of child abuse is.

It is pretty sickening when the leadership of the Catholic Church runs screams about the rights of the unborn when it doesn’t give a damn about what happens to the children once they are born.

As far as I’m concerned, the Pope is a pedophile. Charge him, arrest him, convict him and jail him.
